Domaine de Villaine is located in Bouzeron, nestled in the Côte Chalonnaise region between Chassagne-Montrachet and Santenay to the north and Rully and Mercurey to the south. Planted with vines by the monks of Cluny in the Middle Ages, this small, sunny valley has a rich and lengthy tradition of producing quality wines which reflect their exceptional terroir.
An exuberantly fresh nose offers up cool aromas of citrus, pear and white flower nuances. Like the Bouzeron there is excellent mid-palate density to the textured and mouth coating flavors that are also exceptionally rich but the firm acid spine maintains the balance on the sneaky long finish. Note that this would also make for an excellent house white. Score: 87 Points; Tasted: Oct 2015; Drink: 2018+; Issue: 60; Allen Meadows - Burghound
