The Estate Grown wines from De Bortoli are sourced from their own vineyard at Dixons Creek in the northern section of the Yarra Valley. The grapes are picked from separate sites on the estate, with the first vines planted in 1971. This 200 ha vineyard is nestled into the western slopes facing mainly east and are carefully laid out to match variety and winestyle.

All vineyards are vinified and matured separately. Grapes are hand picked, pressed and allowed to settle overnight. The juice is then racked to older French oak casks (225L, 500L and 5700L) where it undergoes fermentation and maturation. The casks are racked to tank and bottled in late December. Light straw with a green edge. Bright, complex, hints of grapefruit, hazelnut, subtle oak aromas. Fine, minerally, textural, drying phenolics, creamy flavours.

(95 Points) - Huon Hooke; Real Review

Light straw colour with a creamy, cashew nut, subtly citrusy and lightly spicy bouquet; the palate rich, bright and soft, with a lick of ripe fruit sweetness rounding it out nicely. Stone fruits and citrus. A delicious wine, flavoursome yet refined, with extra-long persistence. Drink 2016 to 2024; Price: $30.00; Alcohol: 12.5%; Rating: 95 Points; Huon Hooke; Real Review

A mild season has given birth to an elegant chardonnay that unites the restrained white peach and grapefruit of the variety with subtle struck flint complexity of natural fermentation and lees age in older oak casks. Value. Rating: 93 Points; Tyson Stelzer; Top 150 Wines of 2017

A super-subtle and delicate chardonnay where everything is in modest understatement. Naturally fermented with a little lees stirring to bring texture into the light frame. White peach and cashew with a floral light citrus character. The palate is subtle and very long with sustained flavour. Really well-crafted wine. Rating: 93 Points; Ray Jordan; Weekend West
