All Cullen Wines are grown on a certified Biodynamic, Carbon Neutral and naturally powered estate. Grapes are harvested by hand on fruit and flower days according to the astrological calendar. The wines have no additions of yeast, acid or malolactic culture, and are in this sense natural wines which express the place and land on which they are grown, the vintage and the people

The white wines at Cullen reflect a desire for purity and balance. This we believe comes from the vineyard site itself and the biodynamic philosophy to help the land reflect its best potential in the bottle.

The grapes for both the Chardonnay and the Sauvignon Blanc Semillon are, like all our grapes, harvested by hand and at best flavour expression. For the Chardonnay the bunches are whole-bunch pressed for fruit delicacy and juice quality and then placed into barriques for fermentation with indigenous yeasts. The Sauvignon Blanc is part-fermented in barriques with indigenous yeast and for the most as a tank fermentation to retain fruit freshness. Semillon is fermented in tanks to keep the varietal freshness.

2014 turned out to be another exceptional vintage for the Mangan Vineyard. A warm ripening period resulted in fruit arriving at the winery in superb condition. Hail and storms during flowering, however, impacted the final yields leading to a smaller crop. Harvest was carried out around a period of moon opposite Saturn aspect to utilize the elevated energies associated with this astrological phenomenon.

Fresh lemon curd, cut grass and nettle aromas with hints of biscuit and nuts. The palate has a pleasing creamy texture and displays intense lemon and lime citrus fruits with cinnamon spice being carried to a long finish by a complementary line of natural acidity.
