Sigalas Rabaud 2009 750ml (En-Primeur 2012 delivery)
- SKU
- 978
The Sigalas-Rabaud has a well defined nose: grapefruit, nectarine, honey and lime, much more primal than some of the other 2009s. The palate is very well balanced with excellent acidity: apricot, honeysuckle, a touch of orange zest and then vibrant white peach bursting across the finish with lime flower and lemongrass on the aftertaste. Wonderful persistency, power and freshness. Without question: the 2009 is the best Sigalas-Rabaud that I have tasted and this nectar comes highly recommended. Sociando Mallet 2009 (En-Primeur 2012 delivery)
- SKU
- 4572
Tasted at a negociant. The Sociando '09 has an intense blackberry and briary scented nose, touches of black plum and a hint of fruitcake. The palate is immediate enjoyable: very well balanced, finer tannins than I was expecting, delineated and focused with some lovely black, tar/cedar fruit towards the finish. Good length and precision. This is a great Sociando for the vintage. Tasted March 2010. Wine Advocate # 188; Apr 2010 Neal Martin (91-93) more

Suduiraut 2009 375ml (En-Primeur 2012 delivery)
- SKU
- 910
One of the outstanding successes of the 2009 vintage, this may surpass the superlative 2007. It has a more understated nose at the moment, but is very well defined with honey, white peach, orange peel and crushed stones. The palate has a viscous entry, is very well balanced, very powerful with great depth and effervescent minerality. Layers of botrytis layer across the mellifluous finish that is beautifully defined and sensuous. Fabulous. Wine Advocate Issue #188; Apr 2010 Neal Martin (97-99)more

Talbot 2009 (En-Primeur 2012 delivery)
- SKU
- 1298
This is the most impressive Talbot since the 1982 and 1986. It reveals an opaque plum/garnet/purple color as well as knock-out aromas of black fruits, cedar, incense, licorice, and a Provencal garrigue-like character. Substantial, sexy, and seductive, it is almost slutty in its exuberance and ostentatiousness. It was a thrill to drink this loaded St.-Julien. It should offer irresistible drinking over the next 20-25 years. (Tasted two times.) Drink: 2010 - 2035; Wine Advocate # 188; Apr 2010 Robert Parker (92-94)more

Wow. Great nose of bright dark berries and currant, with Indian spices as well. Full-bodied, with round and chewy tannins, but polished and very pretty and enticing. Big juicy wine with balance. This small estate continues to make excellent wines in top vintages. Score: 92-95; James Sucking; The Wine Spectatormore

Troplong Mondot 2009 (En-Primeur 2012 delivery)
- SKU
- 1091
I tasted this wine four separate times, with three tastings extremely consistent, and one tasting showing slightly more noticeable and astringent tannin. Do I think it is going to be as prodigious as the 2005? No, but it is a compelling Troplong Mondot, and probably more approachable than the 2005 has been in its youth. This is a large vineyard, nearly 80 acres in size, and part of it had hail damage in May. They are late-harvesters, the Merlots were picked through October 10 and the Cabernet finished October 20, with very low yields of 30 hectoliters per hectare, no doubt due at least in part to the hail damage. Alcohols on lots chosen for the grand vin are very high, between 14.5 and 15.5. The wine is inky purple in color, displaying beautiful creme de cassis, licorice, subtle smoke and graphite notes, enormous body, juicy, viscous texture, good vibrancy, a skycraper-like, multi-dimensional mouthfeel, and a whopping long finish of 40+ seconds. This is a great wine, probably more hedonistic and voluptuous than the 2005, but ultimately a tiny notch below that virtually perfect Troplong Mondot, which still gets my nod as the best ever made. This wine should evolve for at least 30-40 years. (Tasted four times.) Drink 2010-2050. Wine Advocate # 188; Apr 2010 Robert Parker (94-97)
Intense aromas of blackberry and blueberry follow through to a full body, with well-integrated tannins and a fruity finish. Offers lots of licorice and spice. There's lovely length to this. Reserved and pretty. Score: 94-97; James Sucking; The Wine Spectatormore

Valandraud 3 de Valandraud 2009 (En-Primeur 2012 delivery)

Tasted at Ets. Thunevin. This has quite an elegant bouquet with blackberry, boysenberry, a whiff of smoke and scorched earth. Good definition and not over-powering. The palate is medium-bodied with fine balance and very good cohesion. Silky smooth tannins, great minerality...if you served this blind I bet a few sceptics would be surprised/aghast(?) at the winemaker. Very assured and very delicious. Tasted March 2010. Vray Croix de Gay 2009 (En-Primeur 2012 delivery)
- SKU
- 1061
A very strong performance by the superbly located estate which rarely lives up to its terroir, the dense purple-colored 2009 Vray Croix de Gay reveals notes of damp earth, forest floor, blackberry, and plum liqueur. Full-bodied and fragrant with superb fruit purity as well as a layered texture, it could turn out to be a true sleeper of the vintage and perhaps the finest wine they have ever made. Moreover, it should evolve for 15 or more years. (Tasted once.) Drink 2010-2025. Wine Advocate # 188; Apr 2010 Robert Parker (90-93) more

d'Yquem 2009 375ml (En-Primeur 2012 delivery)
- SKU
- 5673
The 2009 Yquem has an almost ethereal nose, beautifully defined with scents of honey, honeysuckle, pear, fresh apricot and a hint of quince. It blossoms in the glass, gaining intensity and expanding across the ether. The immediate impression is not of a powerful, rich, botrytis-laden Yquem, but one that has semblances with the 2007 in terms of poise and precision, the acidity defining the wine in its youth and around that, subtle notes of honey, fig, pear, apricot and just a hint of ginger adding vibrancy and edginess towards the pure and tensile finish. As expected, there is extraordinary persistency, lingering in the mouth long after the wine has disappeared, yet it will remain long in the memory. Score: 96-98 Neal Martin, Wine Advocate (188), April 2010 What a fabulous wine. It's an explosion of fruit, yet it's very refined. I absolutely love the nose on this, with apricot tart, apple crumble, caramel and crème brûlée. Full-bodied, superripe and spicy, with mango, papaya, spices and sweet dried lemons. Incredibly long. It really rocks your socks off. Amazing. This could be even better than 2001. Score: 97-100 James Suckling, WineSpectator.com, April 2010 more

de Fieuzal 2009 (En-Primeur 2012 delivery)
- SKU
- 1111
Intense blueberry, coffee bean and toasted oak character follows through to a full body, with super velvety tannins and a long, long finish. This is really excellent. Best Fieuzal in years. Score: 93-96; James Sucking; The Wine Spectator
The finest I have ever tasted, this is an awesome De Fieuzal, with plenty of lead pencil shavings intermixed with blueberry, black raspberry, and sweet cherries. A touch of smoke also emerges from this opaque purple-colored wine. Full-bodied, with loads of glycerin, one can see the more generous, viscous nature of this vintage well-displayed, but also a terrific freshness and vibrancy. It should turn out to be a superb effort that drinks well for up to 30 years. (Tasted three times.) Drink 2010-2040. Robert Parker added an asterisk to this wine score to signify that it is a wine he considers has the finest potential of all the offerings he has ever tasted from this estate in nearly 32 years of barrel tasting samples in Bordeaux.
