Mark Bredif Vouvray 2009

Marc Bredif is a highly respected producer in Vouvray, which shares ownership with the de Ladoucette winery in Pouilly Fume. We recently showed four Vouvrays from Marc Bredif during the Working with Wine seminars and they were a revelation. They all showed great purity of expression, with prodigious ageing potential, and they are an excellent example of what Chenin Blanc can achieve. Complex notes of flowers, quince, lanolin, apples, and citrus are all integrated in wines that have refreshing acidity which aids their slow evolution. - Negociantsmore

Pascal Jolivet Sancerre 2010

Pascal Jolivet is one of the most dynamic and forward thinking producers in the Loire Valley. He started making his Grand Vins du Val de Loire in 1982, later establishing his own Maison Pascal Jolivet in 1987. Specialising in the wines of Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé, Pascal has very quickly gained a formidable reputation and loyal customers amongst leading Michelin starred restaurants in France and around the world.  The vineyards of Sancerre are situated 200 km to the South of Paris on hilly countyside between 200 and 400 meters altitude.

The Pascal Jolivet Domaine covers 49.50 acres of Sancerre, with vineyards close to the villages of Bué, Verdigny and Ste Gemme. The Loire to the East bank and the surrounding forest create a relatively mild micro climate for the vineyards.  A wine of style marked by richness, elegance and smoothness. This wine is powerful and presents a perfect balance.  Match this with  water fish dishes, shellfish and goats’ cheeses’ will prove to be a compelling match, demonstrating the full expression and minerality of this Sancerre. Roland Tissier Sancerre 2010

Light yellow. Understated, mineral-driven citrus and flowers on the nose. Tangy lime and pink grapefruit flavours stain the palate, accompanied by a deeper note of pear. Juicy, focused and pure, with impressive finishing clarity and stony persistence. Really classic Sancerre that will be very adaptable at the table.

Review on the 2007: Pristine and fruity with lots of slatey, pulpy thrust through the finish. Smells good, tastes good and finishes impressively – lots of bite and length. Remarkably fruit driven but with the odd rocky, minerally note and lots of acid cut. Drink: 2008-2010. 93 points. Rated : 93 Points Price : $38 Closure : Cork By Campbell Mattinson; The Wine Front
