Curlewis was purchased by Leesa Freyer and Stefano Marasco in 2011 from Rainer and Wendy Breit. The initial plan was for Rainer to consult for two years but he never left and a great friendship evolved. The original Pinot Noir vines were planted in 1985 to the MV6 clone with later plantings in 2005 of the Pommard clone. The vineyard benefits from the cool maritime climate for late ripening and Stefano and Rainer are always striving to make better wines.

A perfumed nose of violets, ripe plums & black cherries with hints of tobacco. Rich, velvety mouthfeel. The fruit features true to style with deep fruit flavours of plums & black cherries. A concentrated palate with fine tannins and a savoury finish. The low intervention winemaking allows the beauty of the grapes from the old vines to shine through.
