Twice winner of the World's Best Sauvignon Blanc at the International Wine Show, London. Awatere Valley, Wairau Valley, and Kekerengu Coast, Marlborough, NZ. The early growing season had useful rains and few winds, aiding grapevine health. The ripening period was dry and mild, allowing balanced acidity and good flavours at moderate sugar levels. Free-draining stony, silty loam, with some vineyards having clay or limestone content. Standard trellis with pruning to a maximum of four canes with vertical shoot positioning. Vines are trimmed closely, well tucked and lightly leaf plucked.
A blend of wines from the four distinctly different Marlborough sub-regions: Awatere Valley, Waihopai, Wairau Valley and Kekerengu. The result is about as true a representation of a regional style that I could imagine. Flavoursome sauvignon blanc with gooseberry, red capsicum, nectarine and lime, plus a suggestion of passionfruit flavours. Classy wine with an ethereal texture and lingering finish. Delivers everything a Marlborough sav blanc drinker expects and more. Rating: 95 Points - 5 Stars; Bob Campbell MW
